Cycling at Manly
Using your bicycle is a great way to get around the south east and utilising QR services with your bike makes it even easier to get around. There are a few things to remember when travelling with your bicycle on QR services. All we ask is you be considerate of other passengers and abide by the simple rules below.

Travelling with your bike on QR services

You are permitted to travel on a QR service with your bike at all times during weekends and public holidays.

Bicycles are permitted on QR services on weekdays at all times, excluding the following **peak times  due to safety, customer service, cleanliness and capacity issues:


  • Between 7:00am - 9:30am towards the CBD
  • Between 3:00pm - 6:30pm outwards from the CBD   

To avoid travelling during these peak times all passengers with bicycles must complete their morning journey by 7:00am toward the CBD and complete their afternoon journey from the CBD by 3:00pm.

During these peak times, passengers with bicycles are permitted to travel in the following opposite direction  avoiding the specified peak times above.

During peak hours, bicycles will not be permitted to pass through the CBD (Brunswick Street, Central and Roma Street).

Passengers with fold-up bicycles are permitted to travel at anytime as long as they are contained in a carry bag and are within the following dimensions, 79cm x 59cm x 36cm.  

Passengers with ‘special needs’ are able to travel at any time as long as they have appropriate QR authority with them at all times. These passengers can obtain the QR authority by applying in writing to the Customer Liaison Unit, GPO Box 1429, Brisbane Qld 4001.  Supporting documentation should also be supplied.

** If you are found travelling with a bicycle during peak times, you may be asked to leave the train until an appropriate service is available.

Bicycle Lockers

A bicycle locker system is provided at some stations to protect passengers bicycle's from theft and vadalism who are utilising QR services.

You look for the bike locker symbol  on your favourite QR station's page to dicover what stations have bike lockers. Go to station pages »

Bicycle lockers are available use for a three month period and users are required to reendorse the original application with the Station Officer during the months of February, May, August and November to continue their use. Lockers can only be issued to persons 18 years of age or older.

QR provides these lockers as a courtesy to our customers however a deposit of $50 is required to secure the key. The key to your locker is your responsibility and if lost will be subject to a $50 replacement fee.

Application Forms are available from the Station Officer or for download and should be returned to the Station office together with the $50 deposit for the key.
